David Welch 1966-2009

French Horn player and founder of Quintessential Brass Repertoire

Dave founded the QBR in 1987 as an engineering student at Virginia Tech.  Trumpeter Kevin Dunetz was an original member then Charlie Peterson joined during their 3rd year (after the other trumpeter graduated).  The group continued playing when these 3 members graduated from VT and moved to northern Virginia in 1991.  For many years Dave led the group and promoted it in the DC area.  Sadly, he got a brain tumor and passed away in January of 2009 after a 4-year battle with that horrible cancer.  He was glad to know that the group he started would continue after he was gone and that the name and logo he created would also be used for the sheet music publishing company that was so closely related to the group.  Dave was an excellent musician, a great businessman, and a dear friend.  We really miss him.
